Dec 29, 2017 at 17:32 | comment | added | Lawrence | @KonradRudolph People who by default don't believe in fairies may not choose to use the term a-fairy-ist, but they wouldn't object to that classification. Likewise for atheists. The grouping into atheist/agnostic/theist is useful when discussing one's theology.
Dec 29, 2017 at 12:03 | comment | added | Konrad Rudolph | It’s worth nothing that in some cultures people are atheist by default. That is to say, they don’t argue strongly (or indeed at all) that there is no god. They simply never gave serious consideration to the possibility. I’m mentioning this case because it’s explicitly not covered by your definition. As an example, in North Germany (especially the former East Germany) this is a somewhat common occurrence. This position is likened to not believing in fairies: most people are a-fairy-ists, yet don’t feel the need to positively deny/argue against their existence.

Dec 29, 2017 at 8:45 | comment | added | English Student | "Atheists deny the very existence of God, gods or any other supernatural deity for that matter. And to that end, they use logical arguments to substantiate their claims." __ yes indeed that is the mark of an atheist!
