"We don't want everybody knowing about it."


The second sentence is not grammatical. The verb want only allows an infinitival clause as a complement.¹

¹I lied. You can use it a gerund, but the sentence will have a passive meaning. See this related question.

"want" is an infinitive verb and it can only be followed by (noun/pronoun) to + conjugated form of verb (1). This means that your second sentence isn't correct grammatically.
