I want to clarify my doubt on the difference between a phoneme and a grapheme. A phoneme is a sound unit while a grapheme is a written format of that sound unit. To the best of my knowledge, a grapheme is written representation of a phoneme or a letter. So my question is, whether graphenes and IPA (International phonetic alphabets) are same or different?
