"besides" implies that both of basketball and baseball belong to set_A while "except for" indicates that the guy only loves baseball in the scope of available options.

Oxford dict consider "suggest", "indicate" and "imply" are synonyms.

Are all of them exchangeable in the example above?

  • "Suggest" and "imply" are both quite different from "indicate"... Check the dictionary, the difference is there. You can always Google "indicate vs imply", "imply vs suggest" or "indicate vs suggest". – SovereignSun Sep 18 '19 at 5:54
