The following sentence is from the book Oxford Practice Grammar:

Even when she gets the flu, my friend Alice won't go to see the doctor because she's afraid that he will give her an injection.

My question is: why hasn't 'would' been used instead of 'will' here? It is possible that the doctor won't prescribe an injection.

I guess that might meant to convey the fact that Alice is so sure that she's gonna get the shot. – Cardinal Nov 17 '19 at 7:16
