The only option I have is to go or the only option I have is go?

What should I use the infinitive or the bare infinitive? Can I say "The only option I have is going"?

Strictly speaking you need the infinitive marker to in your exact context, but in casual colloquial contexts, even competent speakers might omit it (and there are plenty of incompetent native speakers who might do that too! :) But in a context where this particular "syntax error" stands out more clearly, such as Choose a user name to register. You will have the option to change it later if you wish, no native speaker would ever be likely to omit the highlighted element. – FumbleFingers Reinstate Monica Sep 19 '20 at 15:10
