Is the following sentence correct?

The cartoonist wants to draw attention to poverty in India in showing that people do not have toilets of their own.

    In this context, by showing that [blah blah] is much better. For reasons I can't clearly articulate, if you did want to use preposition in for that clause, it would work better if moved to the front of the utterance.
