In Zootopia, I can see the following sentence,

A world where prey were scared of predators.

According to the learnersdictionary.com, prey is noncountable noun. So, I think prey was should be correct. Why were is used there?

  • They may be using "prey" to mean "prey animals" and "animals" is of course a countable noun.
