If you want to welcome somebody to John’s house, would you say:

  1. “Welcome to John”
  2. “Welcome to John’s”
  3. “Welcome to John’s house”

For instance, which of the previous can be written on doormat? Thank you!

    Welcome to John sounds as though he is the guest being welcomed. John could write either(2) or (3) on his own doormat (or welcome to my house/home).
