This is something weird.


Example: <br>
1. I go to the city.
2. Yesterday, I went to New York City. 

You can see from the examples that when the city has a name, it doesn't use the word "the."
But is it the same for:

Example:<br>

 1. The highest peak is located in the Himalaya Mountain Range.<br>
2. The highest peak is located in Himalaya Mountain Range.

Does this one use the or not? The same question apply for road or other place that is not a village, town, city, and nation.<br>
Or there is a certain rule that sometimes determiner is used, sometimes not?
