[Benign nationalism](http://providus.lv/article/benign-nationalism) is [patriotism](https://www.dictionary.com/e/patriotism-vs-nationalism/), where patriotism is to place importance of the nation before individual(ism); "nationalism is a kind of excessive, aggressive patriotism", which places importance on one's own country/nation over other (group of) nations.

[Communism](http://www.differencebetween.net/miscellaneous/politics/difference-between-communism-and-nationalism/) on the other hand is the belief in a classless society without privacy or private ownership; being "a form of socialism", which allows [private ownership](https://www.history.com/news/socialism-communism-differences) but the bulk of wealth is "communally owned and managed by a democratically elected government", similar to getting paid in shares working in a company instead of just cash salary (thereby granting part ownership of property/wealth, in this case the company).
