    It's a rubbish example, that should read ...informed us that we could cancel the order [if we wished]. Commented yesterday
  • @lambie is right. So in Hindi the question is a possession of the exam so 'of'=kii/ka functions much as an apostrophe 's does. Not so in En. And yeah... will, shall are modals ie aren't marked for tense (unlike say 'have to', a semi-modal).
